Goodbye Mrs. Sanchez

"The good the bad and the ugly"  pretty well describes any Interstate highway across the U.S.

Traffic unsnarls in smaller towns once tied up like a Windsor Knot, people and products can zip from point A to B in less than half the time and then we watch the towns bypassed by the Interstate slowly shrivel-up and die like a snail left too long in the sun.  Progress?

                                                                  Main street Sanderson, TX.
                                                                         Happy Birthday
Desperation, "Fix your tire and cook you lunch while you wait."

One of the remaining businesses, "Aurora's Grocery and Antiques" shop was somehow kept alive by Mrs. Sanchez.  We saw her last year behind the counter with a self-serve pickle jar at one end. She was the whole of the staff and was able to open only a few hours a day.  This year she is nowhere to be found and the store is now up for sale.  $86,000.00

                                                                           So it goes.
