DREAMS

Standing in yesterday morning's icy fog, this Agave Americana Century Plant,  a little over 30' tall, will now die after flowering.

Along the old San Antonio to El Paso Road, sometimes called, "The Southern Route 66," Highway 90, we find another "Texas outhouse."  Placed behind the corrugated metal shelter roof and cement picnic table is this ladder straddling the fence for easier access to the facilities.

Took a walk up the mountain for this picture of our site at the Canyon RV Park on the east end of Sanderson.     *The red arrow points to our rig.*

38,000 miles is a long way, and even longer if done on foot.  "Walking Man" Gary Hause works for the National Park Service 6 months a year and walks the roads of the world the other 6 months.  Why?  Well he said, "The Guinness Book World Record" currently gives the title of "Longest Walk" to Arthur Bless and I want that title.  This year I'll have logged a total of 30,000 miles.  I've a ways to go, a few more years, but when I finish walking Africa, that title will be mine"

He plods along at three miles an hour from sun up to sun down, putting up a small tent where he's able to find a quiet place as the light begins to fade.  Locating a quiet spot to pitch a tent along this desolate stretch of highway will not be a problem, adequate hydration is his big concern here.

Years ago I heard someone say, "If you don't have a dream, you're dead."   Gary certainly has a dream.  We shook gloved hands in the chilled air of late afternoon, he saying "Ride-on,"  I replied, "Walk-on."
