ADIEU TO THE GULF - Palacios, Tx.

We left Goat Island amid great fanfare from the seagulls. These gulls follow the boats looking for food scraps, I guess. It is doubtful they would be tagging along in the wake just for something to occupy their day.

A gull waiting for a handout form one of the ship’s workers.

The AMANDA, many years at dry-dock. No more sailing for this little boat, but wouldn’t you love to hear the stories it has to tell.

Shrimp boats at harbor readying to sail for their evenings catch. Over six million tons of shrimp were landed at the Port of Palacios last year.

After 1,500 miles along the Gulf of Mexico, this will be our last evening.  Now it’ll be inland to West Texas and dusty points along the border.
