DELICIOUS UNHEALTHY CHOICES
We left New Orleans on Highway 90, fought the humdrum highway for a short stretch and then slid onto the blue roads looking for ....anything but tailpipes and car butts. It didn't take long and we were not exactly lost but definitely turned around a bit in Morgan City, La. We drove slow, looking at the many Antebellum Mansions along the Pin Oak lined streets, enjoying the moment and not too concerned about being "turned-around.
All of this driving around in circles can make a person hungry and right on cue we spy "RITA MAE'S." This little place is another reason to get off the Interstate to see (In this case, taste.) America. Jackie had a bowl of spicy shrimp Gumbo and I a plate of rice, lima beans fixed southern style and a pork chop floating in gravy. The slice of corn bread was moist and probably contained a quarter stick of butter. Some days you just forget about cholesterol and healthy choices.
RITA MAE
Way too much food to drive and stay awake so we were now in need of a place to plunk down for the night. Jackie found a state park east of New Iberia but on the way there we spotted a LARGE, almost empty casino RV slab. A phone call confirmed we could rest the RV for the evening on the Chitimacha Indian Reservation. All we needed to do was register, give them $10 and they would give us $20 in return. Hmmm? After more than enough free drinks, playing the slots, roulette and craps, we rode the shuttle back to the rig for dinner, $1.00 shy of break even.

Yes, Richard, they are unhealthy choices, but.....and it is a big butt! How long do we live and how well do we live? We have to experience the tastes of our country fully if we are to live fully! I know restraint is important for physical and emotional health but we also need to enjoy without thinking, without guilt, without worry! I like you! Much more then you will ever know!
