SOUL, SANITY AND PROGRESS

Choosing the scenic mountain, northern road, US 62 into El Paso, instead of the lifeless I-10 was a good choice. The longer (By 30 miles or so) route is so much more relaxing than the constant grind of speeding traffic along the interstate.

Jackie capturing the moment.

Franklin Mountains State Park encompasses 37 sq. miles all cuddled within the largest urban park in the US. From a 5,000 ft. elevation you can look down into the city of El Paso, TX and feel completely isolated from the “busy” of a metropolis.

12 miles in the distance El Paso is deceivingly placid.

In our country, with urban sprawl so ravaging and devouring, it’s good to know some of the wild has been set aside for the calming of the soul.
I think it was Henry Ford, of automobile fame, that said, “Progress is our most important product.” I’m OK with progress but not at the cost of our soul or sanity.

UPDATE!  My buddy Andy is stuck in the mud and in the city.  Go over and give him a shout of solace.  http://myoldrv.com/?p=3507&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Myoldrvcom+%28MyOldRV.com%29
