ROCKS OF AGES

Thirty million years ago, give or take a million, City of Rocks State Park, 30 miles north of Deming, NM was in the state of flux. A volcano a thousand times greater than our puny Saint Helens was sending a waterfall of molten rock from the center of the earth forming a mountain of geological wonder.

What remains today are huge boulders shaped by eons of wind and rain. Stacked, piled, rolled on and next to one another, these eroded rocks are of other worldly shapes defining a landscape of terrifying and yet gentle, spiritual beauty.

This ain't no Walmart parking lot.

Century and Yucca plants

Steady as she goes

How long is a million years?

Official name:  "TOILET ROCK"~ Honest

A perfect time to reflect on one's life, of times gone by and times to come.

Fading light
Curl-Leaf Mountain Mahogany Tree

Thunder shook the rig, blue lightning lit the night and cold rain with hail pounded on the roof.
The end of a perfect day.
