GOT CANDLE?

When the lights go out and YOU didn’t flick the switch, fear ripples through your brain. What happened? Fuse? Tree branch? Tornado? Terrorism? So what do-ya-do-now, light a candle if you have a candle, if not, hope you have a flashlight; Or maybe just wander around in the dark.

We were on the second floor of an upscale motel when the lights, and everything electric, went dead. Some poor sap driving his car here in Charleston, West Virginia didn’t quite negotiate a corner , hit a light pole and put a five square mile dent in the electric grid..

When the room went black last night I didn’t panic or worry to an extreme, I knew there was enough food and water in the rig to last at least through the weekend. The beer would have to be swallowed warm, but we’d survive.

Take a minute and think about what would happen if our country’s power grid got “toasted.” We have become so dependent on electricity that only those most prepared and resourceful would survive.

Cheery thoughts from Marion, VA.
