Angel Slide

Last day here at the San Angelo State Park.  The skies are darkening and rain is forecasted with temps not expected to climb to the satisfactory 50F mark on the Therometer.  ~~~  Moving on south.

Most of the park grounds are littered with the short variety of Prickly Pear Cactus.  One needs to be very careful when walking the rabbit paths or wear ankle chaps.

Vortex of the Angel Slide.

Angel Slide.  Maybe the Rain Angel has arrived to help these thirsty cactus and fill the reservoir?

Gossamer seed pod.

Meadowlark

I hope the death knell that has sounded for this park/area will be silenced with a couple of years of good rains.  This must be what it was like in the beginning years of the great dust bowl of the 30's when dust storms blew all the way to Washington from the Kansas plains.   I wish you luck San Angelo.
